Our custom millwork experience allows customers confidence and the ability to bring wood from old buildings & barn’s they’re restoring and have it repurposed into more useful end products.
If useful grains await below the surface, our expertise may revive what might otherwise be lost.
We can remill and rework old posts and beams and joists which are being replaced by newer material, and turn it into reclaimed wood flooring or beams or whatever the material lends itself to. Remilling old wood flooring is usually not a good idea depending on the original width and thickness since the loss factor in the process can be as high as 50%.
Commercial re-development also provides unique opportunities when plans include recycling, re-using or restoring interior wood supports and members, making way for contemporary authenticity.
If the quality of customer-salvaged wood doesn’t justify the use of the velvet hammer and careful deconstruction, we freely share our advice and experience in that regard.
“At some point in time we all have seen a floor, siding, beams, counters… that made us say WOW! Wood is the difference maker in transforming a project from good to great, and fortunately for us, we met Jim Stowell at Whole Log Lumber. Whole Log Lumber’s niche in reclaimed wood, flexibility in consultation, procurement, millwork and customer service before AND after a project is unmatched! To set your project apart, my first call, without hesitation, would be to Whole Log Lumber.”
