Engineered Wood Flooring - The Right Product For You?

Looking for hardwood flooring that you can install over a concrete slab or radiant-floor heating system?
Engineered Wood Flooring is likely the floor choice for you.

Looking for a natural patina face or skip-planed look in an engineered wood floor - without a high gloss finish?
Looking for an antique wood floor that's easy to install and requires no sanding or finishing? Looking for Heart Pine alright, but an engineered wood floor with a thicker wear-layer than the closest competition?

Consider our environmentally friendly Artisan Engineered, Custom Reclaimed  wood floors - made only from authentic antique & reclaimed wood veneers - grown in America, not the Tropics,  and re-sawn in the Carolina's -instead of China. Perhaps one of these floors is the right hardwood floor for you.

From a finishing perspective, which is a big consideration when purchasing any floor, putting down floors which require no surface finishing after installation, can be of real value to some customers in various situations.  For one thing - installation is easier.  Floors are available in 2 finished thicknesses:  1/2" & 3/4" depending on the laminated mm of surface face of :  3.5 mm (finished 1/2")   or 7 mm. (finished 3/4"), and can be nailed, stapled or glued.  They lend themselves to being a hardwood floor that can be put down by a man handy with a hammer, rather than by flooring installers, which might minimize cost.

Having control of the surface floor finish should be looked at as a great opportunity when investing in a floor, since you expect no bad side effects from installing.  But this isn't always the case, at least where imports and pre-finished flooring choices which are made up in large quantities, are concerned.  We subscribe to the philosophy that we dont over-produce products and we do sell wood responsibly.

The Glue used in the lamination might be of interest to some.  PUR is durable and eco-friendly. This engineered wood flooring, produced in the Carolina's at a reasonable price, consists of reclaimed wood "lamela's" glued to plywood platforms or cores.  This provides for superior stability, especially during seasonal moisture fluctuations, and especially in those locations that have significant humidity.

This choice flooring is for those who desire  the beauty and integrity of reclaimed wood floors, but without the extra expense and effort of installing solid wood flooring.

As the beneficiary of technological advancements in the wooden flooring industry, our artisan reclaimed engineered wood flooring contains the charm, warmth and beauty of both traditional hardwood flooring and antique wood flooring, while allowing for easier installation and minimal maintenance. It's available to you either pre-finished or not, and the thicker wear-layer of this engineered wood flooring, provides for likely as much re-finishing potential as is in solid, hardwood flooring.

Antique Wood Flooring – so… Why Is It So Special?

Because it's beautiful. Because it endures.

"New" Heart Pine and hard wood floors of more recent origin just do not contain the tight grain character or color vibrancy found in antique wood flooring. Nor do they possess the tried & true integrity antique wood floors exude, or provide the energetic qualities of an antique wood floor - which can be as inviting as nature itself. A walk on our floors is a walk onto history, and no living trees have been sacrificed.

Antique wood floors can be functional and rustic or elegant and austere, and as the wood is adapted into engineered wood flooring, their beautiful ambience may be more easily installed and appreciated throughout your home.

The Advantages of Hardwood Flooring

Hardwood flooring has one of the longest life cycles of any building material available to us, and hard wood flooring offers us the best air quality for our homes and requires minimal energy to produce - compared to other manufactured floor products. And yet we know that all hard wood floors are not created equal.

Where antique wood flooring takes the advantages of hard wood flooring to another level, and shares with us a quality and unrivaled beauty that it directly received from nature, it then follows that antique engineered wood flooring offers us the best of all possibilities by combining beauty, functionality and the next mandate in flooring trends - sustainability.
